Last night I got through most of the first darkworld dungeon, snagged the hammer, was on my happy way to try to kill the monster and couldn't find the last key, hunted all over, died, got pissed off and quit the game.
So tonight I went back to playing and decided to try something different. I went to Blind's dungeon, got the glove and killed blind. Went to the forest palace, got the fire rod, didn't kill the moth. Defeated the swamp dungeon, got the Hookshot from the Marsh Dungeon, then defeated the Ice Dungeon. Then I went back to the First Dungeon, and killed that monster.
The best part? If you defeat the Ice and Swamp dungeons you can then go buy the big bomb and get the silver arrows and the golden sword, which I did before facing the 1st Dungeon's monster. Knocked off its mask and killed it with one arrow . I loved it. A four fairy battle only cost me one fairy.
Now I've only got to finish the 2nd, 3rd and 7th dungeons. I'll probably do them in reverse order.
The only reason I did it this way? I found some site that said that you HAD to defeat the 1st monster before killing any of the others. Getting the hammer is not the same as defeating the dungeon.
Also Penn Jillette and Super Nintendo games go together surprisingly well.
